The Department is the government agency responsible for promoting agricultural development by providing the policy framework, public investments, and support services needed for domestic and export-oriented business enterprises.

The DA envisions a food-secure and resilient Philippines with empowered and prosperous farmers and fishers. Anchored on the all-inclusive plan for economic and social transformation under the administration of President Ferdinand R. Marcos, Jr., the DA shall collectively empower the farmers, fishers, and the private sector to increase agricultural productivity and profitability and lower food costs, taking into consideration sustainable, competitive, and resilient technologies and practices. Hence, its battlecry: “Para Sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas”
